Food Process

Rosemary and garlic challah colored
All of my life, I have been a Messianic Jew, someone who believes in Jesus and follows Jewish traditions, and every week my family does Sabbath, a time of rest. And one of the things my mother used to make was Rosemary Garlic Challah, a dish that is very nostalgic for me. The cool, fall wind drifting through the open windows and the delicious warm smell of dread always excited me for dinner with my family. that is why I have chosen to make my own Rosemary Garlic Challah.

Spitting out ideas
With the time crunch, I had a big idea first but i had to dim it down. the drawing in the middle was my first idea, but then I switched with the second idea in the top right hand corner. The second picture incorporates the Jewish culture in on picture and one loaf.

Step by step process, illustrated
First, I will build each three strands with newspaper, then braid them. After I braid then, I will cover it in clay. while it dries, I will mold the plate and candles out of coffee filters and modge podge. I will the add another layer of clay to the 'bread' to make it smooth and plump looking. When everything is dry and ready, I will paint pictures on each of the braided areas.

Top of bread
This was a little hard to braid newspaper

bottom of bread (Drying)
Clay is put on the bottom of the bread for a smoother placement and completeness

side plate
The whole plate process was difficult, and I could have cut it in a different way, but I didn't think of it until after I cut in half.

final front
I am very pleased with how their shape turned out; however, I do not like the colors on this mug and bowl. The colors are bland, flat, and very unrealistic. I also feel I could have spent a lot more time on the bowl and made to "ropes" on the bowl more worm like and maybe more realistic.

final back
I do love black outlining I did with the cup. it accomplishes the comic vibe I was searching for. I love the complexity of the figures for the bowl. I love drawing people and it was fun to do.
