Process
I absolutely loved working through this process of making clay for Fabiola's Exhibit. It made ma realize what all could be accomplished with just glue, paper, and water. My favorite part about creating the niches was mixing the clay and straining the water so it made crumble. I would love to work on this in the future if I had the chance too again.
I did not find anything to be too hard or difficult in the process, except, i was a little scared to use the machines in the mixing process. I would also say that learning how to create your own molds was a great thing to learn, especially if I plan to create more sculptures in the future.
I believe that this process has strengthened my confidence in working with 3D sculpting because it has given me more experience when building molds or bases for my objects. This process has made me love 3D than I have in my life.
IKIGAI Artist Statement
Throughout my life, I have been obsessed with writing stories. I use Freytag's Story Pyramid all the time in every one of my stories when I am organizing them; they are so helpful. I wanted to use this pyramid when conducting the story of my life by having each character be a certain part in the pyramid: the introduction, climax, and dénouement (or the conclusion). This illustration is presented by a frame that is made out of a cheap picture frame, paper mâché clay, and oil paint. The picture frame is supported by its backing which is made out of cardboard (so is its leg), twine, glue, and paper clay. I felt that this project was more than a project to me; it felt like I was finally getting able to figure out myself and who I am. As I am a photographer as well, I wanted to capture the phrase, "A photo says a hundred words" with making the illustration complex enough, one can almost read my whole life's story within a picture frame.
